Saffron Rare Threads and Estrella Tadeo opens studio/boutique

San Francisco designers Saffron Rare Threads and Estrella Tadeo has teamed together to open their own studio/boutique in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. Located at 3579 17th Street at Delores, the space serves as a working studio and retail store for these veteran San Francisco designers. I first met Yugula in 2003 in one of my first fashion shows as a photographer. Yugula and Priya form the dynamic team that is Saffron Rare Threads. Their warm personalities and fashion forward designs have endeared them to so many fashionistas in San Francisco. Saffron’s style is sophisticated, feminine, and rich with vivid colors. I’ve spent enough time with these designers to call them friends and I can tell you they breathe and live fashion even when they are not working. Aside from her collaboration with Priya on Saffron Rare Threads, Yugula also has her own line of of tops and dresses made of colorful patterned prints. Estrella Tadeo rounds out the studio with her line of cool reconstructed menswear. If you’re in the area, stop by and check them out. They are just up the block from Tartine Bakery and a short walk from my favorite San Francisco restaurant Delfina.

  • [...] The Art Institutes of California San Francisco held their annual student fashion show on October 21st at the Regency center presenting the works of over 21 fashion design students. There were several awards presented at the end of the night for various design categories. The judges include Priya Saraswati of Saffron Rare Threads. There was one award though that was overlooked. So after an exhaustive review of over 700 images from the evening, I now present the award for ‘most graceful runway model’ to Dena who made a gracious recovery from a spectacular tumble off the stairs at the beginning of the runway. Display it proudly. [...]
