NEXT model Lacey James recounts her experience modeling in Macy’s Passport Glamorama show

I met and photographed the beautiful Lacey James several years ago at the annual 5 Designers & A Poodle charity fashion show to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Recently, I interviewed Lacey to get some insight on her experience as a runway model for Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama fashion show running in four cities including San Francisco.

The casting process

The casting took place June 23rd in Los Angeles. Every year it is held usually in a hotel due to the large amounts of models that cast. There are thousands of models that try out every year, and due to the cast that is hired repeatedly there is even a smaller chance of being picked. The castings for Macys Passport/ Glamorama were much quicker this year. Normally they have an audition where all hundreds of models enter a ballroom, sit on the outsides of the room. There is a table at the very end of the room where the Passport directors sit. Each girl or guy walks a couple times and then is usually asked immediately after to go to the call back later that day. This year there were no call backs, so you had one shot with your walk.

How were models cast?

All models have agents, and the cities where castings were held were LA, SF, Chicago, and New York. NEXT, LA Models, Ford, Major are a few agencies with models in the show. The majority of the models are from LA and NY, and only a few from smaller cities in the US. All models have major city agencies.
