Brian K. Blackden, 46, of Concord, NH was arraigned Tuesday in Concord District Court on charges of impersonation of emergency medical & rescue personnel and obstruction of government administration, state police said.
Blackden is a former EMT, firefighter, and police officer and he was working as a freelance photojournalist who often photographs emergency scenes throughout the State. Last August, he entered a restricted crash scene without authorization to take photos at a crash on Interstate 93 in Canterbury. Police claimed he interfered with their duties and impersonated emergency service workers by the use of restricted emergency red lights on his converted ambulance.
Blackden’s lawyer said that her client is being unfairly targeted.
“New Hampshire state police sent seven officers, including their second in command to execute a search warrant and arrest warrant when he had volunteered to turn himself in,” Penny Dean said.
