More details are emerging about the case of Michelle Marie Gopaul who was arrested in Toronto last Thursday night for kidnapping a one month old infant during a fake audition.

The NY Post is reporting that Gopaul setup a fake casting call looking for a baby girl of Indian background to star in a Bollywood movie offering up to $7,500 for the role. Parents Viral and Sejal Patel decided to bring Roma. Oddly, the parents were not suspicious even as the audition took place at 10 pm at night. Once Gopaul found a baby to her liking, she told the Patels she wanted to bring the infant into the other room to see how she interacted with others. Gopaul then quickly bolted out the back door into a waiting taxi.

Baby Roma was recovered just 3 hours later when a man recognized the infant and Gopaul. There’s probably more to this part of the story as the Amber alert had not been issued at this point yet.

Gopaul clearly has other issues. She told friends she was pregnant and was expecting in October even going as far as throwing a baby shower and registering for gifts at Babies R Us. She was an aspiring model and claimed bit parts in movies. Her account on Model Mayhem has since been deactivated.
