53-year old John Earl Huntt of Orlando, Florida was arrested December 22nd, 2010 by law enforcement from multiple agencies including Orange County sheriff’s Office, Winter Springs Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Huntt was charged with multiple counts of attempted possession of child pornography including material depicting sexual conduct by a child. Huntt was be booked into the Orange County Jail and will be charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography under Florida Statute: 827.071(5)-1, a third-degree felony. One condition of his bond is that he is not allowed to have contact with children or use computers or the internet so it’ll be interesting to see if he goes into his various online profiles to update or remove them. His website, Model Mayhem, One Model Place, and Myspace profiles have already gone offline.
According to the Attorney General of Florida,
CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine investigation and traced the images back to Huntt’s computer. A search warrant was executed at his Orlando home where three computers and digital evidence were seized. The items removed from the home will undergo forensic analysis to identify any additional images of child pornography. An initial review of his computer revealed multiple images of child pornography including some of children as young as five years old.
In his profile on Model Mayhem, Huntt claimed to be a professional photographer since 1999 shooting high school events. According to his profile,
my images can be seen in numerous of the more prestigious modeling agencies books, countless model’s portfolios, and an unfathomable number of model’s compcards. Recently published on the cover of the August 2008 issue of Miss Teen America Magazine. I am currently Photo Editor/Staff photographer for a growing Make Up/Glamour magazine based in South Florida. I’ve been published on the cover and in that magazine as well as three spreads in Full Throttle Magazine, the MET (Models Empowering Teens) 2008 calendar, and Outfitters Magazine’s 2007 calendar.
It’s interesting to note this quote from Huntt’s Myspace profile as Huntt himself is the poster child for a GWC.
GraphiXolutions Why people don’t understand the difference between a professional photographer and just a GWC (Guy With a Camera)…. Isn’t the quality difference apparent?
Let’s go through the GWC checklist:
- Portfolio just screams GWC.
- Obligatory claim of 30 years in photography.
- Fake or overstated credits from no name or non-existent agencies and publications.
- Fake magazine cover number one and two. At best, they are Myspace magazines that never saw the outside of a printing press.
While his gallery of various children appear innocent enough on the surface, it does have a certain creep feeling to it when viewed after knowing he has been charged with possession of child pornography.
