In the soon to be released Galaxy Note II, Samsung has added a feature rarely seen on mobile phones. Burst mode shooting at 6 fps for up to 20 images at full 8 megapixel resolution will be coming to the new 5.5″ quad-core smartphones. It’s a feature already present in the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Using this technology, Samsung has added an innovative new feature which captures multiple versions of a single group shot. Using face recognition, the device is able to offer a choice of several versions of faces just in case someone is blinking. The only user input required is to pick which face to use. The results, while convenient, is not undetectable but most mobile phone images are not destined to be framed art. It’s perfectly adequate for web use.

Here’s a demo of burst shooting.

And a demo of group shot face replacement.
