Louis Vuitton Cup ends in aborted race for Luna Rossa and two sailors overboard for Emirates New Zealand

The Louis Vuitton Cup, part of the America’s Cup Challenger Series, started with race 1 in a dramatic fashion when Italy’s Luna Rossa’s starboard daggerboard broke down rendering the 72-foot catamaran with no chance of racing.

High winds cancelled the second race but not before Emirates Team New Zealand slammed their nose into the bay at 46 mph in turn 3 sending two sailors overboard. Both men were recovered uninjured.
