Snapseed for Android released, iOS version now free

Nik Software’s Snapseed has been released for Android devices and the updated iOS version, previously a $4.99 paid app, is now free.

Nik Software’s Snapseed has been released for Android devices and the updated iOS version, previously a $4.99 paid app, is now free. Google acquired Nik Software back in September after Facebook announced their acquisition of the popular photo sharing service Instagram. Many saw the move as Google’s attempt to make Google+ more attractive to mobile users. Snapseed won Apple’s iPad App Of The Year award in 2011 and the acquisition by Google raised hopes for an Android version.  Today, Snapseed made its appearance in the Google Play store. Samsung blazes new trail with the world’s second Android based camera

In short, the Galaxy Camera is a compact digital camera with a very fast f/2.8 lens that runs Android but does not make phone calls.

In Twilight New Moon, Swedish songwriter/singer Lykke Li performs a song called Possibilities. What does that have to do with a camera from the largest smart phone manufacturer in the world? Well it’s be best way I can describe the Galaxy Camera in one word.

When it comes to cameras running Android, it’s not really news. It’s likely you already have one if you have an Android smartphone. If you own an Apple iPhone, you know you can already take fairly high quality pictures under ideal lighting conditions. As a camera that can upload images to social media, that too is old news as the latest update to the Facebook app allows automatic photo sync. 11Location sharing apps are hot right now as more mobile users are now willing to give up some privacy to gain the convenience and benefits of sharing their exact locations with friends and family. All the apps require explicit permissions to share and report your location. What it does in the background is anyone’s guess.
