The sequence of events that led to my departure from Model Mayhem

March 6, 2010

  • Dec 13, 2008: This cryptic thread (PDF)  is started by a fake dog profile.
  • Dec 14, 2008: I posted this article about what happened.
  • May 11, 2009: Five months later, more bullshit so I posted this article about Mark/M.Hana/Pterigiontuurani/Marksora
    • This thread is started in the mod room to discuss my blog.
  • May 12, 2009: I get a message from Brian asking me not to intentionally connect Mark’s mod profile to his other profiles. I made my point and agreed to stop pointing that out in the forum.
    • I get a second request pointing out that I have blog posts about it. Well I’m not going to let Model Mayhem dictate content on my site so I was asked to remove the link to my blog from my profile. I removed the link and they said thanks.
  • January 4, 2010: It’s now over a year after my blog posts about Mark’s thread. I started this threadabout some icons I created for signatures.
    • I get another message reminding me I agreed not to post links to my blog in my profile. I make the correction and that’s the end of that.
  • February 16, 2010: Mark (in this thread, he is named ‘stylist man’) makes this stupid post [Cached P1 P2 P3 P4] in the industry forum and people call him out on it. It’s irresponsible and possibly harmful to the person who asked the question and those who read it. Note that a bunch of people refer to him by his first name Mark despite his profile name being changed as the wind blows. That thread is still open for now despite it being reported as misinformation. Maybe they will lock and hide it after they see this post but it’s already been backed up.
  • February 19, 2010: I make reference to Mark by his name in this postand it was hidden as outing. Surely it can’t be the content of my post because the thread I referenced is still open. Here’s the content of the post:
    • I may appear cynical but I genuinely want this site to do well. In general I think 99% of the mods do a fantastic job behind the scene with very little drama. Unfortunately, the actions of one moderator acting stupid publicly tarnished the reputation of all the mods. I don’t really give a crap if someone hides my jokes. I’ve got dozens more. But when it’s coupled with allowing Mark to post crap in the mislabeled industry forum, not hiding it, and allowing him to continue such nonsense, I’m going to call it out. I’d rather see 1000 jokes and nonsensical posts in the industry forum rather than seeing harmful, serious misinformation posted which potentially can cause harm to the membership.I can understand bugs and site outage. I can understand bad decisions, I can understand drunken posts. This is intentionally allowing misinformation posted by a moderator to remain. If it was anyone else, I would say leave it alone because enough people called out the bullshit. With the mod badge comes some responsibility. But I guess Mark can always post that crap from one of his many other non moderator profiles. This is a new low for Model Mayhem.
