According to her Wikipedia page, Aned Muñiz Gracia grew up in Corozal, a rural town in Puerto Rico. She is an accomplished and well respected professor and started teaching at the University of Hawaii at only 20. She was even awarded a Fulbright grant to conduct research in Austria. In 2001, Gracia answered an ad in a newspaper from Glamour Photographers International looking for models. Gracia was a grad student at UCSD who wanted to make extra money. “I was trusting. He was disabled, in a wheelchair and used his disability to make people feel comfortable,” said Gracia. What Gracia got was more than she bargained for. This was the beginning of a ten year fight against San Diego glamor photographer Rocky Forguson (Facebook, website).
Forguson began stalking her in 2006. Gracia was by now married and expecting a child. Forguson would text her proclaiming his love for her. According to this article, early in 2008, Forguson left a telephone message referring to Gracia’s husband: “Next time I talk to this guy, there will be hell to pay. I love you and, you know, I’m not gonna say this again. You know, you know, you’re my best friend. You always will be and I love you. And I’m not going to tolerate this guy touching you.”
Gracia obtained a three year restraining order against Forguson which he soon violated. In 2009, a jury found Forguson guilty of six counts of violating restraining orders. Controversy is no stranger to Forguson. In 1992, another model with a eerily similar story filed a restraining order against him. Forguson had declared his love for her and “forbade me from seeing my boyfriend anymore and threatened physical violence,” she wrote in a complaint. Forguson reportedly rented a space from Gary Lee Whiteside, a photographer who was sentenced in 2009 to 60 years to life in prison. He was charged with 51 counts of molesting and photographing nine girls between the ages of 11 and 15. Whiteside is also accused of possessing child pornography. He pleaded guilty in October 2009 to four counts of lewd acts with a minor and admitted an allegation of multiple victims. Forguson described Whiteside as a “nice guy” who was “protective” of his young models.
In March 2009, Gracia filed a civil lawsuit against Forguson for harassment, defamation and invasion of privacy. In her suit, Gracia alleged Forguson posted racy and altered pictures of her online and included zoomed in images of her private parts. A judge awarded Gracia $250,000 in damages. It’s unlikely Gracia will be able to collect the judgement from Forguson. Graica’s attorney , Dan Gilleon, plans to sue Forguson’s homeowners insurance to get the money.
